"Women in Wigs" Project

Wig Stories from Debbies's Wigshop Customers

Sacramento - One afternoon my wigs were delivered by UPS onto the porch where all my usual packages go. However, as I pulled up in the drive, I noticed something odd lying on the hedge next to the driveway... My gosh... it was a wig!

For the life of me I couldn't compute as to how a wig could have gotten there! But within a few minutes I found out someone had stealthily opened my treasured box of wigs and removed one and checked it out and obviously realized it was something they did not want! (must have been kids) So my poor ABANDON by Raquel Welch was unceremoniously tossed across the yard onto the hedge!!! There she was, still in her hairnet yet safe and sound... but I couldn't shake the feeling she'd been manhandled! The story could have turned out much worse! Like tossed into to a garbage can or just plain wig-napped!!! From now on the UPS man always delivers to the backyard!

Roseville -   One day last month, our office property manager saw me walking in the hall wearing my blonde LINDA by Louis Ferre. I hadn't seen him in a couple of months. He asked me if I'd cut my hair for the summer. I replied... "Yes!" He continued to follow me (closely) and continued to comment on my hair! I think he loved the bounce and body (of the wig!). I finally told him it was a wig though I shouldn't have said anything... but I thought he knew. He didn't! Next time I'll keep my mouth shut and enjoy the compliments!

Seattle-   I had just purchased my ANGELICA by NORIKO for a trip to Los Angeles. I was in a hotel restaurant bathroom checking it in the mirror when I noticed the lady next to me looked like she had the same wig on! (different color) I actually saw her 'adjust it'! I had to say something. Sure enough... she admitted she had the same wig. She'd noticed mine too. Now THAT is a small 'wig world'!

Canyon Lake - Hello, I just wanted to relay something that happened today. I went to the post office today, and I was wearing my WILD CAT by Rene of Paris. A lady came up to me and was asking where I got my hair done, that it was such a beautiful color and cut, I didn't know what to say. I just said, a lady out of state did this when I was away. Since I found out that I was infected with Hepatitis C, my self confidence has hit rock bottom. This incident has made me more confident wearing the wig, I didn't want it to look fake, all of my family loves it.

I start my drug treatment with the interferon Monday, so my hair will probably be thinning here pretty quick from the side effects of this medication. I really feel alot better knowing that people are looking at me because I look good, not because I look ill. Thank you for having a great product, I feel now that I can make it through the treatment, take care, Lisa.

Tucson - Deb, just wanted you to know both wigs were received in perfect shape. I love them both, especially the first one (and I SO much appreciate the fast shipment). It has made a dramatic change in my professional life-for the better. To give you a small idea of the impact, since I began wearing Ecstasy, I have received TWO promotions! I kid you not. Your products are the best I've seen in a long time. Thanks, from the bottom of my heart. Deanna

New York - I was at my local wig shop one day last summer waiting for my friend to finish styling a couple of my wigs. At one point, a customer came in to buy a wig because of chemotherapy. Anyway, my friend began to describe mono-top design to this other lady, who seemed puzzled about the differences in the way wigs are made. I happened to be wearing my Louis Ferré LINDA, which happens to be a mono-top.

I don't usually do this, but I figured this woman needed some humor in the midst of her problems. Without a second thought, I just pulled LINDA right off my head, showing nothing but my very short and thinning hair, tucked in a stocking cap for all the world to see! The laughter came right after the shock, and after that, we proceeded to show the woman what a mono-top looked like. Oh, I put the wig on again before leaving. :) Arielle

Maine - I just wanted to see how I looked in red hair having toyed with the idea for like 12 years and too chicken to color my own... But then I never found the right color red wig. I tried a couple of wigs from Paula Young and those styles are mostly short and curly. Now that red is more popular everywhere the wigs I guess have better selections. I ended up with a couple of honey blonde basic wigs. Until I found Deb's wigs. Then I tried the Henry Margu and realized what a nice wig is and how big a difference it makes in look and feel. Now I am wearing the ECSTASY by Raquel Welch, and I love the Glazed Fire color. I am trying to get used to working with it. I guess I should also have said I like skin crowns! But it looks good and I am bonding with it! This color is perfect. You sure can't hide in red like this! I am very shy and sometimes outgoing. Red is outgoing!
